Left Lake Tekapo this morning in brilliant sunshine. Arriving in Timaru about 1.00pm. Back on the East coast. Don’t like all this town traffic after been down the quiet West Coast and up in the mountains and lakes. Missing all that already. We stopped at Fairlie for lunch at the famous Fairlie Bakehouse. Today was busy for them as some old car enthusiasts were coming through after a show in Timaru over the weekend on their way to Lake Tekapo. Also some of these Sunday outing bikies had all stopped there. Everyone knows and talks about the Fairlie Bakery. They were expecting to sell 2,500 pies today only. We purchased four pies in total, two for lunch which was Salmon and bacon yum. And two for dinner tonight pork belly with crackling on the top of the pie which we are having for dinner. They are quite something. The salmon pie was so full of salmon no gravy/sauces, all salmon. Now just finished dinner the pork belly pie was just as nice again no gravy all meat and apple sauce. Not like normal meat pies which are usually all gravy and a few bits of meat if you are lucky. When we arrived in Timaru I did the washing and hung it out before we had a walk down to Caroline Bay which is about 25mins from our camp Top 10 Holiday Park. As the day went on the clouds started to come in and it turned a bit cool. We decided to drop by here as PT felt two nights in Mt Somers might be too much. Therefore we will have one night tomorrow at Mt Somers and have a bit of an explore around the area. Hopefully go into the hills a little. We will just see what the day brings. Quite day today not a lot to see. Therefore nostopping for photo shots which pleased PT.

Mt Somers tomorrow for one night. Last dot before Akaroa for three nights.
Stopped in Lake Tekapo Village before we left to take a couple of pictures. Above another photo of Mt John where we drove up to the top on our way in to Tekapo. Building on the left is the cafe.
The most interesting country that we saw today. Most of it was very disappointing and everything is so dry.
Fairlie Bakehouse. We were there at 11.30 and people were queuing up outside.
Out the side of the Bakehouse there was an area to eat. All very pleasant.
One of the old cars that had come up from Timaru.
To show you how much salmon( same with the pork one ) there is inside all flesh no gravy. This was less than half of the pie.
Yummy ๐
Main Street of Fairlie.
Leaving the quaint town of Fairlie.
Now arrived at the Top 10 Holiday Park Timaru. Very nice, clean and spacious.
Took off for a walk down to Caroline Bay.
Timaru Lighthouse. From 1878 - 1970 was the main harbour navigation light. In 1980 it was restored and moved to Maori Park and acted as the rear leading beacon for entry into the port. In 2010 it was again relocated to this Position above and of course is not a working lighthouse today.
Looking down over the beach. Some kids were busy making a tent hut, by collecting drift wood on the beach,
Being Sunday the kids were out sailing. Port on the right. And just along there you can go down about 9.00pm at night to see the Blue Penguins. We decided not to go.
Nothing very exciting today. Just about moving back to the East coast.
