However we just got out there this morning and drove round in the drizzle. Took a few photos but not the best under the conditions. When we were going back to camp the sun tried to come out for awhile but by the time we had done some shopping it had gone. So gave up and headed back. Then it came down really heavy so that’s it for today. Not much to write about but still relaxing. I will share some wet photos with you. Getting organised to go down to the lounge to hopefully watch two races 🤞🤞

Off to Lake Ohau tomorrow. It is the small lake next to the dot near 43.
Woke up to this beautiful sunsise. Red sky in the morning Sheppard’s warning. And yes it was a wet day.
Drove up the west side of the lake a little. Looking across the paddocks of cows and in the distance sheep. And a glimpse of the lake.
As I was taking this photo most of the cows looked at me and smiled. They didn’t stop staring, so I had a chat mooing which they responded with soft moos. And the didn’t look away until we left.
Above and next two below photos were taken a few miles up the west side of Lake Wanaka.
High fashion in Wanaka.
This guy was busy eating grass and as turned to walk away he came running up to me and I didn’t realise until I looked around at this snorting noise. He was so friendly and just wanted a scratch on his noise.
Above and below were taken going up the eastern side of the lake.
High up driving around some very flash real estate.
All the houses are built on the side of a steep hill looking over Wanaka. The part of a driveway in the bottom left had come down from the road going into a garage. So steep. I should add that Wanaka is going through a boom in new houses. New homes are under construction everywhere. In fact one road had been closed for one way traffic as there was so many homes under construction.
Standing out on the wharf looking along the foreshore of Lake Wanaka. From the eastern end. And below.
Lots of these big willows are along the beach.
70 years ago this tree started its life as a fence post. Over the years it has grown into this Willow tree. It has suffered from time to time with pranks as folk try to climb it for photo opportunities and break off limbs. They say it could be the most photographed tree in the world. It is referred to as The Wanaka Willow.
This chap is always walking ahead of me as when I want to take a photo or two he won’t wait for me just keeps walking. Always in a hurry. We walked through these magnificent poplar trees to go and see the above tree in the lake.
Taken from the Western end of Lake Wanaka. Poplar trees everywhere around the Lake.
Nothing much to look at tonight as all the photos were taken in the rain although it was only a drizzle.
We enjoyed the two AC races, very stressful. Not sure about the wind tomorrow not looking good for racing. Weather wise after our wet day we have been told it should be Ok for tomorrow. We leave Wanaka tomorrow after three nights. We are going to Lake Ohau staying at the Lodge, as they also have powered sites for Motorhomes and you can use the Lodge facilities. I have checked that the campers can also use their lounge to watch the America’s Cup so that’s all good. We need a nice day tomorrow as lakes don’t look their best in bad weather. Lake Ohau Lodge is near the ski fields so they probably mainly cater for the Ski season. They also do lots of weddings. It should be a pleasant place to stay. The lake is nestled in between two mountain ranges. Unfortunately we can’t take the motorhome up to the where the ski fields are.
