Tonight’s map staying at Fox Glacier
Lake Lauthe
It’s raining but as I took this photo it was like a switch came on an off as the sun shone over me for about half minute then went. Someone was looking after me.
Still raining but not too heavy. The following are scenes as we continue down to coast.
Unusual cloud formation.
This is a little cafe we passed by in a little township called Hari Hari.
Cloud getting lower.
Lake Mapourika. Huge lake but this is just a small inlet where we stopped for a coffee. We missed seeing the main recreational area of the large part of the lake. Rain was getting heavier now.
Arriving at Franz Joseph Village.
Rather than just drive through we went for a drive around the back streets.
Don’t you love the French doors on the back of this bus
Another front lawn piece.
Very low cloud now and the river was running so fast. The water was a light grey as it is running over grey rock.
Just further on outside Franz Joseph village we are driving along side this river on the way out to the car park where all the walks are started from. We would have loved to do the 30min walk to view the glacier but 1. The rain was too heavy we would have got soaked and 2. We wouldn’t have seen a thing.
Took this to try and show the water running down the hills forming these small waterfalls. Can hardly see them in this low cloud but they were everywhere.
Going over the big hills between Franz Joseph and Fox Glacier. On our way south.
Now in Fox down one of the back streets I think looking back where the glacier is. Will find out if I am right if the clouds lift.
We had lunch at this pub cafe very nice.
Seafood chowder yum. Best I have ever tasted.
Well we are now settle in camp in Fox, found the T V room, now waiting for the start of the cup race. We got here early to make sure we had the TV under control. A few people coming in now should be starting in a few minuets. Go Boys Go.
Waiting —— PT has control over the TV remotes.
First race ✔️
Second race ✖️
