Before we left camp this morning at Glentanner Park. More of an idea of the park. Plenty of room between sites amongst the pine trees. We are first right. The barron rocky hills behind. Another excellent Park.
One last look at Mt Cook before we left.
Watched the helicopter take off from our camp. It had bikes on the side of it so we could only presume it was taking people up into the mountains to bike down one of the cycle tracks. So many bike trials around the South Island.
We have now left from our two nights here and started our drive back down the side of Lake Pukaki.
All self explanatory
We stopped at Peters Lookout again for another look up the lake to Mt Cook.
Continuing on
We have now arrived at the bottom of the lake. Beautiful foreshore.
The beasts. Tahr on the left.
Had a coffee at this place where they sell salmon. We got some honey and mustard glaze. Yum. Had some on crackers this arvo below.
Just across from the salmon shop we went across the other side of the road and looked down at this canal that takes the overflow from Lake Pukaki. Running very fast. We then drove around to get on the road that runs down the right hand side of the canal.
Above and below while looking for the above turn off we ended up in this pretty area (note the duck swimming towards me) where the fisherman come in their motorhomes/ caravans and stay a few nights and fish in the canals. A free camping area.
You can see a camper tucked away amongst the trees.
We have now come up to the dam where all the water rushes out from the lake.
Looking down the canal.
This photo shows the fisherman’s campers parked on the above area in front of the little pretty area three photos up. You can just see the fisherman on the bank of the canal. PT is in there somewhere chatting to the guys.
Now back up on the main road continuing along the bottom of Lake Pukaki.
Stunning scenery.
Left the lake and now on the road to Lake Tekapo.
Just a peep of our camp site at Lake Tekapo.
Tekapo photos coming tomorrow.
Just amazing how stunning the scenery is and the level of fitness you both have is also pretty impressive!!
